01. NDF, “Since We Last Met”
I have no idea why this popped back into my head recently but it’s an old favourite of mine, a gorgeous hypnotic sunrise tune from NDF (a.k.a. Bruno Pronsato and Sergio Giorgini of Benoit & Sergio) released by DFA in 2010. There’s more than a slight Villalobos influence on this, so it’s not particularly weird that Ricardo himself remixed the track for its b-side, though I never personally felt that his version was as good as the original. 02. Black Jazz Consortium, “Duality”
Deep spiritual house music from New York-turned-Berlin producer Fred P, released under his Black Jazz Consortium alias. This came out some years ago but I only recently discovered it while listening to this great Beats in Space mix on a train into Croydon. (buy here)
03. Two Shell, “Dust”
Quite different stylistically to “No Reply”, the Two Shell track that I included in a playlist earlier this year, but still good, colourful, and fun! (buy here)

05. Towa Tei, “GBI (German Bold Italic)” (feat. Kylie Minogue & Haruomi Hosono)
My name is German. Bold. Italic. I… am a typeface. (buy here)

08. Ambient Babestation Meltdown & JBS, “Who Goes There?”
‘Ambient Babestation Meltdown’ isn’t just a funny combination of words. Rachael Williams used to work in marketing for an adult entertainment channel owned by Sky (not the actual Babestation, but a competitor) and, as she’s explained in the past, “when the ‘talent’ wasn’t available, the sound guys would get me to fill in for the girls in the vocal booth doing voice overs”. She later joked about combining an ambient DJ set with this sexy hotline voice, which ended up becoming a reality, and Williams has recorded a few online mixes under the alias over the years. As far as I’m aware though she’s only recently made her debut release, a cassette of sci-fi–inspired electronics in collaboration with Joe Brooke-Smith that was recently put out by Optimo Music. 09. Yr Lovely Dead Moon, “Sun Dance”
Yr Lovely Dead Moon is a musician based in Berlin but originally from the north east of England. She writes strange electronic/experimental music with this very literary spoken word on top. I’m not sure how I would have first stumbled across her song “Kali” but it’s a really phenomenal piece of music. The track I’ve included here though is “Sun Dance”, an equally absorbing song from a mini-album that came out this June. (buy here)
10. Beth Orton, “Weather Alive”
Always good when an artist is still making strange, captivating, beautiful music some 30-odd years into their career. (buy here)
